Questions about the release process (team, testers, ETA)

Hi Cassie. I would like to ask you a few questions on behalf of everyone. These are questions that everyone is very concerned about.

  1. Is the development team composed solely of Cassie, or are there multiple people working on different tasks?
  2. How many people are currently helping you with testing? Were they selected from the miners?
  3. The last question that everyone cares about: Can you provide a relatively accurate launch date? Will it be within August or by Christmas, so that miners can plan their electricity usage and mining equipment accordingly? Everyone hopes to arrange their resources properly.

  1. I’m the primary dev, but others have contributed. I’d like more people to get acclimated to contribute, but doing that onboarding is backburnered until 2.0 is launched. It would have been easier to have more dedicated devs (and myself having more time dedicated) if investors had accepted the terms of the raise, but no institutional investor was willing to participate because they wanted tokens, which a fair launch protocol could never do.
  2. Bootstrap operators were open to join at any time, with the changes involving rewards for bootstraps (i.e., no rewards for bootstraps in 2.0), some left, some joined, but it’s always been an open process. The testing intervals has largely been code changes (mostly changing of defaults for configuration, but there’s been some performance optimization done against dependencies).
  3. This last stage of bootstrap testing we are currently in is where things are being pushed to limits. Once this is over, the main branch will be updated with v2, and the release signing process will begin rollout. This is in terms of days, not months.
