Moderation Guidelines

This is a WIP post to gather moderation guidelines specific to this forum.

Preamble

We value freedom of speech. For us moderators, this means that people are entitled to speak their mind even if we don’t like what they’re saying.

Getting started

If you’re a new moderator, please start with carefully reading the forum FAQ/Guidelines that applies to all members then continue with reading the Discourse Moderation Guide.

Price/speculative discussion

Quilibrium’s token is a utility token, but due to regulatory uncertainty in the space, we have to be very careful that it does not get classified as anything else. This means that we cannot allow and have to actively moderate any discussion that references the price (e.g. “the token is worth $X”) or induces speculation in the price of the token (e.g. “should the price increase/decrease”) or anything that can be seen as soliciting an investment (e.g. “buy token”).

Post titles

It’s important to have descriptive titles to posts so that people browsing the forums can find interesting content. Good titles also help search engines indexing the forum. For this reason, please actively edit titles to make sure they’re descriptive. E.g. for a post asking about mixnet routing, “Question about Quilibrium” is a bad title while “How does mixnet rooting work?” is a good title.

How to moderate

It’s not a good experience if someone just edits your stuff, so we try to work with people if their posts need adjustment. TODO

I have some suggestions to add

Duplicate Topic
Sometimes users can start a new topic that already exists and is current. If posts in the duplicate topic are added to the discussion, they may be moved to the current discussion. Moving all posts in a topic will automatically close the topic.

Heated, difficult, non-productive discussion
If discussion in a topic is no longer productive or discussion is no longer focused on the topic, but instead on “attacking” other users instead of ideas, moderators should step in.
